The Difference
There's a profound difference between presence and attention—
the way you sit with me, not filling silence with noise,
but with the kind of listening that asks to understand.
You're curious about me.
Not the curated version, not the highlight reel,
but all of it—the good I'm proud of
and the bad I hide in corners.
You don't run from my contradictions.
Instead, you stay. You look closer.
You adore the parts of me I thought were unlovable,
the insecurities I've learned to apologize for.
You show me tenderness in the very places
I expected judgment.
This is intimacy—
not the moment of being chosen,
but the thousands of moments after,
when you choose to know me still.
When you remember what I've told you.
When you see me struggling and don't look away.
You take the time.
You make the effort.
Not because you have to,
but because you want to—
and that wanting,
that deliberate, patient curiosity,
is the deepest way
anyone has ever loved me.
